JOHN BROWN BIG BAND

This is a professional large jazz ensemble made up of top musicians, specializing in performances of traditional compositions from the Great American Songbook and today’s cutting-edge arrangements. The group also performs a wide range of material covering all eras of jazz repertoire including the music and arrangements of legends including Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Mel Torme, Count Basie, Thad Jones, Duke Ellington, Woody Herman and more.

The John Brown Jazz Orchestra is committed to education and is a proud to be selected by the North Carolina Arts Council for years running to tour the schools of our entire state. Available in configurations from 12-24 pieces, this group performs music from the great composers and arrangers, with concert options specifically highlighting compositions of Carolina natives like John Coltrane, Thelonious Monk, Dizzy Gillespie, Nina Simone, Lou Donaldson and more, while delighting in performing the well-known, beloved tunes of the Great American Songbook. The members of the gorup are all committed to education and the group gives performances for children in conjunction with feature performances.
