Marvelous Music Series Closes Season with John Brown Quintet
Performance to be last Marvelous Music Series concert at Herb Young Community Center

CARY, NC –  Fayetteville, North Carolina native and Duke University professor/Director of Duke Jazz Program John Brown and his award-winning quintet of brass and bass have prepared a night of time-honored Bebop and Hard Bop era of jazz on April 15 at 7:30 p.m. at the Herbert C. Young Community Center, 101 Wilkinson Avenue, Cary. The group’s original work reached #8 on the JazzWeek chart and stayed in the top 50 for 16 consecutive weeks. Brown’s youth jazz group, Jazzforce, will open the concert. This is the final concert of the Marvelous Music Series 2010-2011 season.

Individual tickets are $18 for adults, $16 for seniors (55+); a Friends and Family Four Pack, priced at $56, is also available and includes four tickets valid for all ages to be used for one individual concert. Individual tickets may be purchased in advance from noon to 6 p.m., Monday-Friday at the Herbert C. Young Community Center or through Ticketmaster.

“A night of jazz will be an excellent way to close this Marvelous Music Series season and take the opportunity to reflect on past series as we look to build on its success at the new downtown arts center,” said Sarah Preston, Performing Arts Coordinator.

This will be the Marvelous Music Series’ final season at the Herbert C. Young Community Center; the series will move to the new Cary Arts Center and those who purchased season tickets will have priority seat selection for the 2011-2012 Marvelous Music Series. The series opened in 2000 with the Vienna Choir Boys and since has hosted more than 30 different international and local acts, including the Harlem Girls Choir, Riders in the Sky, Livingston Taylor and the von Trapp Family Singers. The new downtown arts center will open later this Spring.
