Education

The John Brown Quintet is committed to jazz education. John is a Professor and Director of the Jazz Program at Duke University. Each member of his quintet has experience working with students of all levels in small and large group settings. The members all teach privately, and will work in different configurations to suit the needs of the students. John and the quintet are available for workshops on specific music concepts, master classes on instruments, clinics with small and large ensembles and joint performances with students and colleagues. Additionally, John, Gabe and Adonis are available for workshops specific to the rhythm section (together or separately), Ray handles brass and Brian handles saxophones, flute and clarinet. John also lectures on jazz concepts, history, and does workshops on jazz improvisation, listening skills and orchestral performance.
